SENIORS – STRENGTHENING THE LEGS

We have seen many seniors over the past number of years and to be honest I amazed at how we are able to change the lives of many patients who are our seniors and improve their mobility.

Many seniors who are at home do not realise just what they can do for themselves and by sitting down and doing very little but watch TV are making themselves weaker and weaker leading to complication of inactivity.

In this picture we are showing you that after examination you can use a zimmer frame to strengthen the quadriceps

Exercise

a zimmer frame exercise for seniors who are house bound

Sit back or sit up in front of your zimmer frame.

Raise either one of both legs up and place them through the insides of the zimmer frame.

Either lower yours legs and ankles onto the zimmer frame for a rest or withdraw both legs and place them on the ground again.

Repeat 3-5 times twice a day

Note:// Although these exercises are designed to help you help yourself, we urge caution in all rehabilitation that you do not over do the exercises.
